Barcelona is a superb Mediterranean city to explore by bicycle. With almost 150 km of graded cycling lanes we have plenty to choose from. So, jump on two-wheels and enjoy the ride!
Your English speaking guide will give you a good introduction to the story of Barcelona, stopping every couple of hundred metres to share stories, myths and slices of Barcelonas history.
Start cycling at the Olympic Port, a landmark for contemporary Barcelona constructed for the 1992 Olympic Games. It was at this time the city started re-inventing itself, becoming a worldwide reference for successful urban transformation.
Pass by the waterside and Frank Gehrys famous fish sculpture before heading to Park Ciutadela, the green lung of central Barcelona. The next stop is the Eixample, the citys 19th century extension. Discover a unique mix of grand apartment houses and modernist icons built by the likes of Antoni Gaudi and other architects of the time. Cycle past the surreal Casa Batllo and Casa Mila on Passeig de Gracia, Barcelonas finest address for expensive designers.
Later we reach the historic centre from the Raval side, Barcelonas most multicultural neighborhood. Explore the labyrinth of small streets that still retain their old world charm. The Barrio Gotico is only a stones throw away and well get a glimpse of some of its hidden treasures. Just around the corner there are remains from the Roman conquest as well as the ancient "Barcino" - the origin of modern Barcelona. Then rest weary legs with a visit to a lively tapas joint.
Finally arrive at Port Vell, Barcelonas oldest port. It was here in medieval times the Catalan merchants unloaded their freight and the mighty navy took sail. Cycling along a former fishing neighborhood next to Barcelonas fantastic beach takes us back to our starting point.
English speaking guide, one bottle of water per person, two tapas per person.

Start in the heart of Barcelonas Old City; the Gothic Quarter that dates back to the Roman times. Walk along the ancient city wall and see the remains of Barcelonas early settlement, as well as medieval buildings and sights in the lesser-known Jewish Quarter.
Stroll through the narrow streets of the Born district and admire the gothic Santa Maria del Mar (Santa Maria of the Sea), considered by many to be Barcelonas most beautiful church. Fishermen, nobility and merchants once lived together in this district and joined forces in the construction of this impressive building.
Continue to Montcada Street where large gothic palaces sit alongside first-rate museums like the Picasso and Textile Museums. Just next door there are some great bars like La Xampanyeria, a tapas joint. Youre likely to find yourself squeezed in with a bustling crowd of Barcelonans on their lunch break.
This area is also renowned for its great mix of contemporary and traditional shops. One of the oldest is Casa Gispert, master roasters since 1851. Youll still find the original oven toasting superbly tasting nuts, coffee and cocoa. Take in the special atmosphere and enjoy some of their traditional products.
Walking to La Ribera, we escape into a quieter district with few tourists and some very interesting places. Marvel at the exuberant facade of the art nouveau-style Palau de la Musica Catalana, home to all kinds of musical performances. Nearby is the wavy-roofed Santa Caterina food market. Over time the 68 fresh-produce stallholders have retained their original signage despite the contemporary design around them.
Finish the tour with a wander along Les Rambles, a stunning tree-lined pedestrian mall. The mall connects Placa Catalunya and the Columbus Column at the Old Port. We end our walk next to Barcelonas stunning opera house, the Gran Teatre de Liceu.
A good pair of comfortable walking shoes is advisable. We recommend not to wear short trousers/dresses since a few religious sites might be visited briefly.

The Tablao de Carmen pays homage to the great dancer Carmen Amaya, a key figure in the history of flamenco. Carmen Amaya, Gypsy and Catalan, made her debut in 1929 in front of King Alfonso XIII, on the grounds now occupied by Tablao de Carmen , to commemorate the inauguration of the Pueblo Español, held during the Universal Exposition in Barcelona that year.
The Tablao de Carmen, in its 18 years in existence, has always been characterized by offering a great quality show, direct heir to the purest of traditions. The show, which lasts 75 minutes, can
always boast artists of the most widely-acknowledged prestige who are accompanied by young promises for who, since time immemorial, the tablaos have served as a school and as an artistic springboard.
The show presents in a dynamic way several of the most important styles or beats of flamenco so that the spectator can get to know the wealth and variety of this art. With the same objective,
the show also alternates the protagonism of its different expressions: the music, the singing and the dancing.
As an authentic tablao show has no formal choreography , each artist, interprets individually his or her number and the rest follow the beat, marking the rhythm, accompanying it and strenghtening it. The improvisation constitutes a key element of flamenco and is directly related to the communication between the artists themselves, and between them and the audience.
The audience participates in the whole show with its clapping and exclamations and this communication means that no two shows are ever the same.
The Tablao de Carmen is situated inside the grounds of the Pueblo Español and this, in turn,
is on the mountain of Montjuïc. The mountain of Montjuïc is one of the most important parks of the city and has,
in its surroundings, many points of interest for visitors: the
Magic Fountain, the
Greek Theatre, the
National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC), the
Miró Foundation, the
Olympic Ring.
The Poble Espanyol was built in 1929, on the occasion of the Universal Exposition in Barcelona. It is
one of the must-see places for tourists who want to know Spanish history and culture. The grounds
got their name because it was conceived to show the richness and variety of Spanish architecture, and inside there are replicas of the most representative buildings of the Spanish autonomies.
The Tablao de Carmen is situated in a unique environment to get introduced to the atmosphere of flamenco: in the area dedicated to Andalusia, in Calle Arcos. This street is an exact replica of those that exist in Andalusia, the place in Spain with most hours of sunshine: narrow and white for protection from the heat, with a profusion of flowers, railings and arches.

Get in contact with the roots of Flamenco and discover a historical quarter in Granada, the Sacromonte.
An unique opportunity to watch a genuine flamenco show at its best.
Any visit to Granada would not be complete without visiting the Alhambra and seeing live authentic gypsy dancing.
The Alhambra stands majestically beneath the backdrop of the snow tipped peaks of the Sierra Nevada mountains and to the right you have a bird's eye view of the rest of Granada. The gypsy flamenco evening accurately encapsulates the essence and colourful ambience of the sacromonte.
We provide a free drink of your choice to consume during the performance or a typical andalusian dinner.
The cave "La Canastera" specialises in Zambra that is normally performed by a gypsy family. The performance represents the rich tradition of gypsy folklore.
The Zambra is generally happy, enchanting and full of the abundant grace exuded by the gypsies.

Sierra Nevada is a rocky massif that forms a clearly distinct geographical unit. It is located to the south-east of the city of Granada and extends along the western end of AlmerÃa. It offers a sharp contrast between the soft relief of hillocks to other more rugged areas. The biggest peaks on the Peninsula can be found in this Reserve: Mulhacén (3,.482 m) and Veleta (3,392 m). The main plant communities dotted over this rocky massif are the holm oak groves, deciduous forests, chestnut trees and Melojo oaks, high mountain groves and padded brushwood on the very highest summits, where the species form a cushion to protect themselves from the winter temperatures and icy winds. As for fauna, there are invertebrates that are exclusive to this massif, including more than 20 species of butterflies.
