Spending a day in the Cinque Terre has inspired some of the most well known Italian and European poets and writers and was declared a World Heritage of Humanity by Unesco in 1997. Do not to forget about it until your next visit.
Musts in the area: a boat ride in between two or three villages of the area to see the Cinque Terre from the sea; the breathtaking Via dellAmore (Lovers street) pathway connecting Riomaggiore to Manarola; visiting a local small winery producing the famous local sweet sciacchetr wine and obviously taste it; enjoy a typical lunch on a small terraced trattoria (2 or 3 tables maximum!) overlooking the small pier; get breath-taken by a driving above the whole coastline, 300/400 metres above the sea; just sitting in a peaceful corner and enjoy the whole magic atmosphere.
On the way back to Florence we will stop in Pietrasanta, a stylish ancient town in which famous artists lived: Michelangelo in the XVI Century due to the vicinity of the Carrara Marble Quarries and in modern days Botero. Nowadays the town is the home of hundreds of sculptors with dozens of workshops and galleries and is a perfect location to enjoy an aperitif before returning to the hotel.

Walking through its narrow streets of San Gimignano, learn about the Guelph-Ghibelline conflict and commercial interests that forced the local rich families to build their towers. Coffee or Cappuccino break in a central square of the village together with one of the best gelato you have ever had!
At the end we will leave to Siena, passing through a beautiful country landscape. A stop will be made in one of the little villages we will find along the way to Siena, to have lunch in a local trattoria (where you will be able to taste some local specialities, like the pici pasta)
Siena is the famous city of the Palio, the site of the Enoteca Italiana - the only national wine association- the site of Monte dei Paschi -the oldest bank in the world. Beautifully laid out on three hills, Siena owes its popularity as one of the main attractions in Tuscany to its perfectly preserved gothic city center, with the "Piazza del Campo" one of the most beautiful squares in the world, where the famous Palio horse race takes place twice a year and the Cathedral, considered one of the most impressive churches of Italy especially thanks to its impressively richly decorated interiors.
But its not just the magnificent monuments of Siena which make of it a must-see attraction, it is the overall atmosphere and architecture that still expresses the grandeur of its heyday that make of the visit of Siena an unforgettable experience.
Walking through the town that is so well preserved you will feel as if you have returned to the end of the XIII century, when Siena represented one of the greatest example of civic, social and political organization in the whole of Europe.
In visiting this city one should realize that hes not just dealing with a "secondary hill-town in Tuscany" since Siena indeed was one of the most prestigious capitals of Europe in the middle ages.
Before leaving the city, lets try something typical: Siena is famous for its sweet specialities: the panforte cake & the ricciarelli biscuits. Enjoy a tasting of these products in one of the most known bars of the city centre.
On the way back to Florence we will stop in a famous winery producing the Chianti Classico Red Wine: here, after an introduction to the history of the Chianti region and wine, we will visit the wine cellars and, later on, tasting 3 different kind of wines.
At the end drive to Florence

Theres no better way to start a day like a local then visiting one of our characteristic markets: the Mercato Centrale or the Mercato di SantAmbrogio (Sundays - alternate route). These markets will show you the real Florence and Florentines and will give you the possibility to get some Tuscan gastronomic souvenirs as well as a good bottle of wine for the evening!
Afterward we proceed with the highlights of the city: Piazza del Duomo and its Cathedral and the famous Dome by Brunelleschi and the gold Paradise door of the Baptistry. From there we continue to Piazza Signoria, the political heart of Florence since the 1300's when Florence was considered the richest city in Europe. We are beckoned to Ponte Vecchio, the bridge which attracts so much curiosity not only to its unique charming appearance but also to the fabulous jewelery shops lining the bridge.
We will enjoy a light and typical tuscan lunch in a traditional restaurant where the locals go.
After lunch, we head for the hillside of Florence, starting with Piazzale Michelangelo for taking some pictures on what is considered to be the most beautiful Florence panorama.
Passing through another beautiful area of the city, we enter into the hilly countryside around Florence, where you will start to see olive trees and vineyards. We pass through Pozzolatico and Monte Oriolo, with great spots for photos, and finally arrive in the village of Impruneta, the door of entrance in the heart of the Chianti Classico Region, also known for its world famous production of typical Tuscan Terracotta. After a little promenade in the main square of the city, and one of the nicest gelato ice creams in the area, we will enjoy an olive oil tasting in a Fattoria close-by. The olive oil made in the hills around Impruneta is considered one of the best ones!
We will then continue to the capital of the Chianti region: Greve in Chianti, with all its nice little shops under the loggias of the main square, some of them are really something not to be missed.
Passing through Montefioralle, we will reach Badia a Passignano, the heart of the production of the Antinori wines, completely surrounded by vineyards and olive trees. We will enjoy a glass of wine in this magic place before returning to Florence!

White wine: From the wine maker Strele with refreshing Soave 2005 vintage from Veneto area. The wine is smooth, and tastes of peach and almond. Very interesting wine coming from the heart of the Soave area. The wine maker has only 3 hectares of 100% Garganega grape.
Red wines: An excellent example of a Chianti from a Castellare di Tonda wine maker, about 20 km from Florence. It is 100% Sangiovese and the estate also produces olive oil.
Third wine: A Rosso di Montalcino 2005 vintage from a Collosorbo wine maker, or a la Serena wine maker, depending on availability.Rosso is the little brother of the Brunello and a great example of Montalcino house wine. The Collossorbo are round with nice fruit and low acidity.

Walking through St. Peter's you'll see the highlights of the most famous church in the world, and listen to the many anecdotes of popes, saints, and artists. Saint Peter's Square has been the center of Christianity for centuries and the destination of pilgrims. In AD 64 this area was the site of a Roman Circus used for horse racing. It was here around the same period that Saint Peter was crucified and buried by Nero. Catholic tradition holds that Saint Peter's tomb is below the altar of the basilica. There has been a church on this site since the 4th century.
We then walk to the Castel Sant' Angelo also the Mausoleum of Hadrian a magnificent fortress commissioned by the Roman Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum for himself and his family. The popes converted the structure into a castle, from the 14th century. Pope Nicholas III connected the castle to St. Peter's Basilica by a covered fortified corridor called the Passetto di Borgo. Castel Sant'Angelo appeared in Dan Brown's 2000 novel in the film Roman Holiday and in Puccini's opera, Tosca where Cavaradossi is held prisoner.

Hidden Venice - Saint Isepo Parish
On this unique photography tour we will move around the parts of Venice less traveled starting in Castello the largest of the six Sestieri of Venice. The district grew up from the thirteenth century around a naval dockyard on what was originally the "Isole Gemini", although there had been small settlements of the islands of "San Pietro di Castello" (for which the Sestiere is named), since at least the eighth century.
The district became divided between the Arsenale, then the largest naval complex in Europe, and the monasteries in the north of the quarter.
It was later altered by Napoleon, who planned what are now the Biennale Gardens, and stills more recently the island of Sant Elena has been created, and land drained at other extremities of the quarter.
You will also learn how to capture the spontaneous emotions, expressions and interactions among people that tell the story of Venice and the people who celebrate it with you. There are photo opportunities on every corner and each location we visit offers its own unique photographic challenges and we will explore different styles of reportage story telling. Your guide is a professional photographer and a life long inhabitant of Venice.

In this place even Santa Chiara began her monastic life.
