Based on a Pulitzer Prize winning book, South Pacific was nominated for ten Tony Awards and naturally won all of them. South Pacific is one of the greatest Broadway musicals in history. Brought to life by Rodgers and Hammerstein, the musical eventually spawned the 1958 film starring Rossano Brazzi and Mitzi Gaynor.
The musical is based on James A. Micheners book, Tales of the South Pacific.
The story takes place during World War II in the South Pacific and tells two love stories. One is of Nellie, an optimistic nurse, and Emile, a French plantation owner with two bi-racial children from a previous marriage. The other is of Luther Billis, a restless American sailor, and Liat, a native Vietnamese daughter of Bloody Mary the local grass-skirt seller. Both couples deal with the issue of racial prejudice as Billis and Nellie cannot overcome their bigotry in becoming involved with a native. Set in wartime, the couples are forced into life or death situations, causing both to realize that the issues of race are not as important as life itself.

Ballroom Reinvented
History
The ballroom dancing the world recognizes today is competitive ballroom dance, sometimes known as dancesport. It is comprised of ten dances, which can all be danced in closed ballroom hold.
The style danced in BURN THE FLOOR is called international style and has been danced in competition since 1920. International style ballroom dance consists of ten dances, split into five Latin American dances and five ballroom dances (standard).
Each BURN THE FLOOR dancer has spent a lifetime training to compete against other dance couples. This show allows the dancers to demonstrate their love and passion for their art.
Standard Dances
The Waltz is a ballroom dance in 3/4 time, with a strong accent on the first beat, and a basic pattern of step-step-close.
The Foxtrot is a slow, syncopated 4/4 rhythm, in a slow/slow-quick/quick count and employs the fashionably rebellious use of trotting steps. In 1927 it was renamed slow foxtrot and was characterized by smooth gliding movements.
The Viennese Waltz, the oldest of the ballroom dances, is a 3/4 rhythm which began as a peasant dance in Provence, France in 1559 and became a craze in Viennese dance halls in the early 1800s.
The Tango originated in Argentina and was brought to Paris in 1910. The international tango was born in the 1930s and combined the proud posture of the other ballroom dances with 4/4 rhythm, staccato action and walking steps, that move around the ballroom floor.
Quickstep is an international style ballroom dance that follows a 4/4 rhythm, similar to a fast foxtrot. It evolved from dances in the 1920s like the Charleston and the influence of the ragtime music popular during that era.
Latin Dances
The Cha Cha, a Cuban dance, became popular in the 1950s. It is an offshoot of the triple mambo and has a 4/4 rhythm. It is fun, flirty, playful, and is known as the afternoon dance.
The Samba, the ladies dance, originated and is still celebrated in Brazil. It is fun and festive. The fast and intricate cross percussive music and steps are danced to a 2/4 rhythm.
Paso Doble is of Spanish origin, though it was developed in France. Using a 2/4 rhythm, it is a highly stylized dance that is based on the Spanish bull fight and uses marching steps. The man represents the matador; the woman the cape.
The Rumba has a 4/4 Cuban rhythm and is the slowest and most sensuous of the Latin American dances. This is the dance with the most sexual tension, and is known as the dance of lust.
The Jive is based on jazz and improvisation. Set in 4/4 time, this dance originated in the United States in the early 1940s. It relies on African American rhythms. It travelled to Europe when American soldiers brought the Lindy Hop/jitterbug during WWII.
The show will use smoke, fog and haze, lasers, and strobes.

The Shaw Festival in Niagara presents John Bulls Other Island a comedy by Bernard Shaw in which friends and business partners Broadbent and Doyle travel to a small town in Ireland with a business deal in mind. The Englishman, Broadbent, falls in love with everything about the place, including Nora Reilly, Doyles old flame. Doyle, the hometown boy, only sees a country trapped in its past. Shaws unromantic look at the romance of Ireland, and a play so funny that at a royal command performance, King Edward VII laughed so hard he broke his chair.
Is it just because I am Irish that I so love watching Bernard Shaw skewer the English and their constant misunderstanding of their obstreperous neighbour?!

The Toronto Raptors are a professional basketball team based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They are currently the only National Basketball Association (NBA) club based in Canada and outside of the United States. The team is owned by Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd.
At present, the Toronto Raptors have an excellent, but success-starved fan base. Despite having only one playoff series victory in franchise history, the Raptors continue to draw attendances in the top half of the NBA.
The team is known to have one of the largest and most passionate fan bases in the NBA, this is in part due to the high popularity of basketball in Canada, which is a surprising factor due to the number of die-hard ice hockey fans in the country.

The History
Medieval Times Celebrates its 25-year reign in North America. Medieval Times founders first launched their unique idea for a dinner attraction on the Spanish island of Majorca in 1973. This imaginative new entertainment spot was inspired by the true medieval tradition of royal families inviting guests to a festival and feast to watch Knights compete on horseback.
During the early years in Spain, the shows authentic display of classic equestrian skills and medieval pageantry took place in outdoor arenas, a far cry from the climate-controlled castles of today. There, the conventions of todays shows were established. Guests were seated in sections named for regions of Medieval Spain and encouraged to cheer for the Knight representing their region.
As Medieval Times has grown in popularity both in Spain and North America, some things havent changed. Like our commitment to the accuracy of weapons and costumes. Others have. The characters and storyline of our show evolve every few years, making sure it stays fresh and exciting for generations to come.

Each year, approximately 2 million people visit the CN Tower to take in the breath-taking view and enjoy all the attractions it has to offer.
The CN Tower was built in 1976 by Canadian National (CN) who wanted to demonstrate the strength of Canadian industry by building a tower taller than any other in the world. In 1995, the CN Tower became a public company and ownership of the Tower was transferred to Canada Lands (CLC) Company, a federal Crown corporation responsible for real estate development.
Although the CN Tower inspires a sense of pride and inspiration for Canadians and a sense of awe for tourists, its origins are firmly rooted in practicality. The construction boom in Toronto in the 1960's transformed the skyline characterized by relatively low buildings into one dotted with skyscrapers. These new buildings caused serious communication problems. With its microwave receptors at 338 m (1,109 ft.) and 553.33m (1,815 ft., 5 inches) antenna, the CN Tower swiftly solved the communication problems with room to spare. As a result people living in the Toronto area now enjoy some of the clearest reception in North America.
The CN Tower is situated on Front Street which is located in the heart of the Entertainment District. The CN Tower is easily accessible from Union Station as well as many major streets and highways. For a broader sense of the CN Tower's location, it is located on the north shore of Lake Ontario.

As the helicopter gently lifts off from our Victoria Avenue location, the awe-inspiring views of the Niagara Region begin to appear below. We wouldn't want any picture-taking opportunity to be missed so cameras should be ready to go right from the start!
Beginning with the Sir Adam Beck Generating plant and the Niagara Parks Commission School of Horticulture, the tour follows the Niagara River from the Whirlpool area (look for the Spanish Aero Car crossing the gorge), over the Whirlpool Rapids and the Rainbow Bridge.
The green grass and floral beauty of Queen Victoria Park stretches below as the helicopter passes by the American Falls and the Skylon Tower. Just when it looks as if you may reach the Minolta Tower, the helicopter begins to change direction as if following the curve of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls! Rainbows appear and disappear from all directions. The helicopter begins to level off and continue along the route back to base.
Features of the Niagara Helicopters Experience include:
* Individual headsets with taped commentary available in 12 languages.
* On-site services include a snack bar, gift shop, and picnic area.
* Wheelchair Access
* All major credit cards accepted
* Gift certificates available

The Jet Dome departs daily from Niagara-on-the-Lake as well as the Niagara Glen (during June, July and August). Passengers for this trip must be at least 4 years of age and 40 inches in height.
The tour begins with the windows in the upright/open position, and we use the hydraulics to give passengers unprecedented views of the river, gorge and other boats. When going through the whitewater, we close down the hatches to ensure everyone stays dry. A big bonus for this trip - Bring your Cameras!
Put on your head set and listen comfortably to your river guide commentating on points of interest, the geography, history and scenery, as well as how these jet boats work. As well, the captain will offer their observations from the control seat! Loading on the boat is also very easy and involves three simple stairs. Of course, we are there every step of the way to ensure an easy boarding process. While on board passengers simply have to sit upright and enjoy the view. For added safety and stability there is a bar in front of each row of seats which passengers are instructed to use during certain points of the trip. Reservations are highly recommended and trips do depart daily, rain or shine! Have fun on the water!
Seating on the boat
We do not reserve specific seats for any wet jet departure. Guests choose where they would like to sit after attending the pre trip orientation and briefing. Every seat on the wet jet is an exciting and WET experience.
The closer one sits to the front of the boat the more intense the experience might be. Guests looking for a little less intensity can choose to sit closer to the back. Families with smaller children sit towards the back of the boat with the older passengers sitting on the outside of the younger passengers.
Passengers are allowed to bring a hat or visor, glasses and water proof cameras. All other personal items are left on shore for the trip. Reservations are highly recommended and trips do depart daily, rain or shine!
